Fridays for Future

Fridays for Future is a global non-profit organization started by Greta Thunberg for students who wish to get involved with the climate change issue by striking on Fridays. It regroups all the teens all around the world who want to make an impact and have their voice heard by the world. The website is a platform where users can learn more about the organization and how to strike in their hometown.

The objective of this project is to rebuild their website based on their identity. My personal end goal was to make an impact just like Greta Thunberg’s powerful messages, and for the users to have fun navigating through it.

A fun approach was chosen for the design, as teens are the main users. This idea gives a friendly touch without being too childish. This concept allows for many interactive elements, and the punchy colour palette relates to the cause. To represent the earthy side, a vibrant blue was chosen for the primary colour and fluorescent green, dark green, and white were the secondary colours.

The contrast between the colours in the background of every page creates a spark in the eyes of the users and helps to keep their interest. This also helps legibility for long texts and differentiate the role of each page.

The overall project was challenging, but the result was satisfying for me. The most enjoyable part of this project was seeing static elements transformed into interactive pieces and linking frames for a smooth experience.
